There are about a dozen Victoria Cross holders buried in unmarked graves in London and there may be as many as 100 in unmarked graves nationally. Unfortunately, there is no organization for the upkeep of graves although several have been found by individuals and markers placed on them. Many lie in 'that piece of foreign soil that will forever be England' while others went down with their ships. Here is a list of several VC winners' graves:
Angus Buchanan VC (First World War):
Coleford Cemetery, Gloucestershire
John Cornwell VC (First World War):
Manor Park, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
John Alexander Christie VC (First World War):
Stockport, Cheshire
Gerald Graham VC (Crimea):
St. Mary's Church, Bideford, Devon
Arthur Evans VC (First World War):
Park Cemetery, Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire.
Frederick Hitch VC (Zululand):
St. Nicholas Churchyard, Chiswick, London
Albert Edward McKenzie VC (First World War):
Camberwell Cemetery, Surrey
Godfrey Meynell VC (India):
Guides' Cemetery, Marden, Kent
John Taylor VC (Crimea):
