From August 6th - August 14th, 2017, Fred. Olsen’s flagship Balmoral, carrying 1,350 guests, will depart Newcastle on a journey from the ‘Scottish Highlands to the Lizard Peninsula’, taking in five stunning destinations as well as sailing past some of the UK’s most impressive scenery.

Balmoral will arrive first in Oban, in Argyll, Scotland; a small, yet fascinating, area, overlooked by the prominent McCaig’s Tower. Nearby is impressive Glen Nevis, in the shadow of 1,344-metre-high Ben Nevis, as well as Glencoe – often thought of as the most scenic and romantic glen – and the mighty Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Balmoral will then cruise past Duart Castle and the Firth of Lorn, in Scotland, before arriving in Belfast, Northern Ireland’s vibrant capital. Here there is a chance to visit the superb Titanic Experience; admire the views from Belfast Castle; or take a tour to uncover the mythology of the exceptional natural sculpture that is the Giant’s Causeway.

Dublin, Ireland is next; famous for its Guinness and lively ‘Temple Bar’ area. Here, guests can wander through the elegant square gardens of Trinity College, take a river cruise along the Liffey, hear the stories of Molly Malone and Leprechaun folklore, enjoy excellent shopping or experience the city’s renowned Irish hospitality.

Balmoral then arrives in Falmouth, in Cornwall, which is a beautiful network of creeks and rivers and sandy beachfront. Cruise guests can take a tour to the iconic Tintagel Castle, believed to be the birthplace of King Arthur and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, where mystical walled gardens, ancient pastures, woodland and wetland await exploration.

Guests will then spend a day in Portland, which clings to the south coast of the UK, via the shinglecovered ‘tomobolo’ of Chesil Beach – part of the UNESCO-listed Jurassic Coast. Portland is the gateway to a plethora of historic attractions, including Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.

Balmoral will then return to Newcastle.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
