Fans of Outlander will be flocking to Scotland on 15 March for a one off event which provides an opportunity to quiz the book's author Diana Gabaldon as she's interviewed in person by author James Crawford. 

The evening, which will take place in Hopetoun House, which appeared as the home of the Duke of Sandringham in series one.

Outlander follows the adventures of English nurse Claire Randall, played by Caitriona Balfe,  who travels back in time from 1940s Scotland to the 18th century, where she meets and falls in love with Highlander Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan.

The first book was published in 1991 and it was adapted for television in 2014.

The Hopetoun House event has been organised by VisitScotland and Publishing Scotland, with support from United Airlines. Jenni Steele from VisitScotland said: “The Outlander books and subsequent TV series have had a huge impact on tourism in Scotland, inspiring thousands of travellers to visit our shores.

Marion Sinclair from Publishing Scotland added: “Books and storytelling have long been the source of cinematic and TV adaptations and Outlander is one of the major page-to-screen stories of the past decade in Scotland. Glide along to free family skating sessions... Outlander author to be quizzed by fans at... “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to hear from Diana Gabaldon about how her writing served as the inspiration for the series.”
