Kate Middleton and Prince William are taking a break with the children away from Windsor following the news that Kate has been diagnosed with cancer.

On Friday, March 22 the Princess of Wales announced to the public that she is undergoing treatment for cancer. The news came after weeks of speculation online and in the media on her whereabouts.

In an emotional video statement, the Princess explained that when she had abdominal surgery in January, it was not known that there was any cancer.

"However tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," she explained.

According to reports, Kate and the family will spend the Easter holiday in Sandringham along with King Charles.

The Princess of Wales was recently seen departing Adelaide Cottage by helicopter with Prince William, Prince George (age 10) Princess Charlotte (age 8), and Prince Louis (age 5). The family left are understood to have traveled to Anmer Hall, their country home on the Sandringham estate.

It is understood the video released last Friday was also on the day Kate and William's three children began their Easter school holidays to take advantage of the break to shield them from news coverage of their mother's health.

In the video she said, "It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.

"As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits."
