With less than six months to go before the release of Downton Abbey The Movie, here's everything we know so far.

The posters have been released, the trailer has been released, but all anyone can talk about is whether or not Matthew Crawley is going to make an appearance in Downton Abbey The Movie.

Matthew left the show during the Christmas special at the end of season three, and we're not entirely sure how he can reappear given the nature of his exit, but a recent Instagram post has us all wondering if it might just be possible.

The fact that producer and screenwriter Julian Fellowes has hinted that the film might actually be a prequel, set before Matthew left, fills us with hope. Fellowes has said: "I do actually have an idea of doing a prequel of the courtship of Robert and Cora, when all those American heiresses were arriving in London.

"They had a slightly troubled courtship because she was in love with him before they married, and as we know, he married her entirely for her money."

And while that sounds great, at this stage we just want to see more of Dan Stevens and for Lady Mary to be happy!

Which if this Insta from Michelle Dockery is anything to go by she might just be!

So who can we expect when the movie lands next year? Well everybody it seems, even the Dowager Countess! Everyone has signed up apart from Mamma Mia star Lily James, which kinda makes sense given her character swanned off to New York at the end of the series.

But for now, we'll just have to watch this space...
