Season three of The Crown will air in November, so casting has begun for season four with Gillian Anderson already confirmed for the Margaret Thatcher role 

Hit Netflix show The Crown shows no signs of slowing down, as casting begins for season four. Olivia Colman and Toby Menzies will remain on as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, alongside Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. But as season four sees us move into the 1980s, new characters like Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher will appear.

Emma Corrin as been cast as Diana, and now Gillian Anderson has confirmed she'll take to the small screen as controversial Margaret Thatcher. 

Speaking to The Observer, Anderson said: "“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman. Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable, but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despise, defined an era.”
