But before you start packing your bags for your British vacation and getting a plane ticket, it's best to research into which destination you wish to visit. Here are some of the many places to visit in the United Kingdom.

Yorkshire

Known for its rich culture and history influenced by Celts, Angles, Romans, Normans and Vikings. Its inhabitants happily embrace the nickname "God's Own County".

Bath

Located in Somerset, Southwest England, the city is a World Heritage Site with its museums, theatres, sporting venues and other tourist spots. Its range of limestone hills is designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty".

Cotswolds

It is an area in South-Central  England, classified as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" in 1966. It is known for its unique Cotswold stone that makes up much of the area's buildings and structures.

Devon

A county reaching from the Bristol Channel to the English Channel, this area is known for its agriculture and tourism, notably with its Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks.

Lake District

Also known as "The Lakes" or simply just "Lakeland". As the name implies, it is known for its scenic lakes and mountains. Its fame is mainly from Lake Poet William Wordsworth's writings.

Brighton

Located on the south coast of Great Britain. Its main thing of note is the large LGBT community as well as the general acceptance of the populace of said LGBT community, making Brighton the "gay capital" of the UK.

Cornwall 

It is a ceremonial county and unitary authority located to the north and west of the Celtic Sea. It is the traditional homeland of the Cornish people, and it is recognized as one of the Celtic nations that retained a distinct cultural identity based on its history.

Norfolk

Located in the East of England, its status as a National Park and protected by the Broads Authority makes it one of the many popular tourist attractions in the UK.

Suffolk

Located East of Cambridgeshire and North of Essex. The very few hills dot the landscape, and is largely arable land with the wetlands of the Broads in the north. The Suffolk Coast and Heaths are classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

London

Capital city of England and the UK, rich in history and culture in terms of its people, art, music, architecture, sports, film and literature. It is one of the cultural capitals of the world.

Edinburgh

Capital city of Scotland, located in Lothian on the south of the Firth of Forth. It has many historic buildings, including the Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle. It is also known as being the center of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, engineering, law, science and "Scots Law".

Torquay

A seaside town located in the area of Torbay. It is the hometown of famed author Agatha Christie. The "Agatha Christie Mile" is a tour that is dedicated to her life and writings.

Liverpool

A port city located east in Mersey Estuary. It is labeled as the "World Capital City of Pop" due to the immense popularity of The Beatles, an English rock band that first formed in this city in 1960.

Belfast

Capital city of Northern Ireland. Currently, it is a center for industry, owing its success to being a key city during the Industrial Revolution, with one of its more well-known accomplishments being the construction of the RMS Titanic.

York

A walled city located in North Yorkshire, England. Throughout history, York has been the stage for many political events for almost two millennia. Today, it is the center for the railway network, as well as a major manufacturer for confectionary.

Bristol

Located in Southwest England. Bristol is known for its culture, both historical and modern, with a thriving industry in creative media, aerospace, and electronics.

Llandudno

A seaside community located on the Creuddyn Peninsula, which protrudes from the Irish sea. It is titled as "Queen of the Welsh Resorts" and known for its many seaside tourist attractions and hotels.

Leeds

A city located in West Yorkshire, England. It is a "Gamma World City" where its booming industries in the cultural, educational, financial and commercial sectors make it one of the many internationally-known cities of the world.
