Princess Beatrice married her fiancee, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small private ceremony at Windsor on this day last year

Princess Beatrice, unfortunately, didn't get the lavish and large wedding ceremony that was anticipated last year.

Due to the coronavirus, the Princess instead was forced to settle for a smaller ceremony that only involved a few close family and friends.

While it may not have been the fairytale wedding that Beatrice was hoping for, there was still a celebration of sorts, and photos of the day were shared to Twitter by the Royal Family's account.

There was, of course, the conspicuous absence of Prince Andrew from any of the photos. The disgraced Royal had made headlines last year for all the wrong reasons. The FBI has reportedly contacted the Prince's representatives, and wish to pull Andrew in for questioning about his relationship with pedophile and sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, as well as Ghislaine Maxwell, who was recently brought in to custody.

Andrew's exploits are a dark cloud that hangs over the family, and his absence was certainly noted by many who are critical of the Royal Family at this time.

In many ways, the low-key nature of the wedding will suit Princess Beatrice. Through no fault of her own, her family is linked to some heinous crimes, and as long as Prince Andrew refuses to co-operate with any investigations, the media will not relent.

The family were quick to send their congratulations on to the newlyweds.

Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip even got to get out and enjoy the day!

The Royal Family Twitter account shed some light on the dress that Beatrice wore and the fact that some of her jewelry was actually worn by Queen Elizabeth herself!
