The US singer will one among many superstars at the Prince and Princess of Wales's environmental awards in Boston this week.

The Earthshot Awards is awarded to five winners each year for their contributions to environmentalism. The event will take place on Dec 2 at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston.

Stars performing at the event will include Annie Lennox, Ellie Goulding and the Beyoncé-backed R&B duo Chloe x Halle. Earthshot Prize council members Sir David Attenborough and Cate Blanchett will provide voiceovers during the ceremony. Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek and "Schitt’s Creek" star Catherine O’Hara and "Big Little Lies" star Shailene Woodley will present awards.

The ceremony will be hosted by UK broadcaster Clara Amfo and US actor Daniel Dae Kim.

A source told the British magazine, Hello "The prize has become the prince’s Superbowl moment of the year, and he looks forward to continuing to use the platform each year to shine a light on some of the most impactful projects doing amazing things around the world to save our planet’s future.”

The Royals described Earthshot as a "Superbowl moment". This is the second year the Earthshot Prize will award five prizes of £1 million to winners in five different categories: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean Our Air; Revive Our Oceans; Build A Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. The decade-long mission is to discover and scale up solutions to the planet’s biggest environmental challenges.

The Earthshot Prize ceremony will be the highlight of the royal couple’s three-day trip to Boston, Massachusetts. The visit will begin on Wednesday 30 November with a special event with the Mayor of Boston Michelle Wu and Ambassador Caroline Kennedy. They'll be meeting members of the local community in Boston, learning about the work organisations are doing to reduce the risk of rising sea levels there as well as visit sites which develop green technologies.

Prince William had the idea for the Earthshot Prize when he was on a trip to Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya in the autumn of 2018. He met conservation workers and people from local communities there and got to see how they are helping the planet by working together.

Ahead of the ceremony, Rami Malek said "The 15 finalists of this year's Earthshot Prize are deeply inspiring. They are dedicating their lives to building solutions that will repair our planet."
