Few families have as many fibs told about them as the Royal Family

For many, the thought of becoming rich and famous is what they dream about at night. A fast-paced, lavish lifestyle is desired by millions around the world. But what many don't realize is that sometimes, that life isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Fame is fickle, and the opinions of people can switch and flip very quickly. No family knows about this more than the Royals, who are regularly used as tabloid fodder.

The Royal Family has always had a certain amount of mystique around them. Naturally, this has lead to some myths developing and certainly has meant some major untruths ave appeared about the Royals.

Here they are!

1. Queen Elizabeth and her 4 glasses a day

Back in 2017, Darren O'Grady, who used to be the Queen's chef, was quoted as saying that Queen Elizabeth would enjoy up to 4 alcoholic beverages a day. This caused a bit of a stir, and he quickly corrected himself, claiming he meant to list just 4 of the alcoholic beverages Queen Elizabeth enjoys in general.

2. Queen Elizabeth I was a man

Yes, you read that right. A popular conspiracy theory has developed over time that suggests Queen Elizabeth I, often known as the 'Virgin Queen', was actually a man dressed as a woman. This was in part due to the ideas written by Bram Stoker, the author of 'Dracula' who suggested in his book 'Famous Imposters' that Queen Elizabeth I was in fact a male. Fake news!

3. Prince Charles will never be King

We've all heard this one before. As long as he's been around, many have suggested that Prince Charles will simply skip on the opportunity for him to become King. This has certainly never been suggested by Prince Charles himself, and those in the know are of the firm belief that he will in fact become King once Queen Elizabeth passes on. William will have to wait a little while longer!

4. Prince Charles and his seven boiled eggs

This one...is a little bit less well-known. There was in fact a strange and hilarious theory that came out a few years ago that suggested Prince Charles, the very heir to the throne, would have seven boiled eggs every morning for breakfast. Unsurprisingly, this one is untrue. Prince Charles rubbished these claims himself in an FAQ in 2019. Clearly, Prince Charles felt the need to address this one!

5. Queen Elizabeth is a powerless figurehead

We all know that this one is untrue. The idea that Queen Elizabeth is merely a symbolic leader is patently untrue. Her Majesty plays a prominent role in signing off on laws, and can even start wars should she wish! Not that she ever would...
