Zara Tindall's love for horses is no secret, but she has just made royal history by accepting a new position and title within the equestrian world.

The Queen's eldest granddaughter became the first royal to be appointed to the Cheltenham Racecourse committee, in Nov 2019.

But what does it mean?

Zara's role is of a non-executive director and sees her help the chairman and executive in operating the racecourse. The royal took up the position on January 1, 2020. 

The former Olympian, who is the daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, takes after her mother as a passionate horse lover and talented rider, winning silver at the London Olympics in 2012.
