Finally, some good news for the Royal Family...

Princess Eugenie made the announcement today that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child.

The mum-to-be shared a post on social media that let her followers know that the baby is due in early 2021.

Eugenie said 'Jack and I are so excited for early 2021...' along with a pair of baby shoes to announce her pregnancy.

This news comes at a time where the Royal Family's public image could quite possibly be the lowest its ever been. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's public and painful exit from the Royal Family was traumatic for all involved. As well as this, the ongoing investigation into Prince Andrew, Eugenie's father, is a shadow that looms large over the family.

The disgraced Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson are said to be over the moon with the news, and they will become grandparents for the very first time.

A source with ties to the family said 'This has been the tonic the whole family needed. Eugenie and Jack are delighted and told Sarah and Andrew a couple of weeks ago. They were both utterly thrilled - it’s been a long time since the Yorks had some happy news, frankly. The news has also been welcomed by the Queen, who is very close to Eugenie, and obviously has an extraordinarily strong sense of family.'

The new Royal baby will become the 11th in line for the throne. Prince Edward, who is Eugenie's uncle, will be bumped down to 12th in line.

The child will probably not be given a Royal title, as Eugenie and Beatrice's children will take the rank from their father.

And for Queen Elizabeth? Another great-grandchild! Her Majesty will welcome her 9th, along with Savannah and Isla Phillips, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Mia and Lena Tindall, and Archie Harrison-Mountbatten-Windsor.

Congratulations to Princess Eugenie!
